Welcome to the MoritzOnline.net blog!
The place where all five of us will regularly contribute to keep our family and friends informed of happenings in our lives.
Be sure to check back regularly.
Only 3 more sleeps until we fly to Edmonton and then drive to Saskatoon for my sister Lori and her fiancee Darryl's wedding! I am so excited, I can't wait to see everyone. And if you're one of the lucky ones I get to see.....see you soon!
We've been so busy in the least week because of moving that you haven't heard much from us. Here are a few photos of some of our activities.
We're finally (and I do mean finally) out of the old house and everything is now crammed into the new house. It's amazing how much stuff we have - considering how often we've had to move in the last 5 years. If we
ever move again, I'm having movers come in to pack, move and unpack. For the most part, I did enjoy cleaning the old house because it's so much easier to do without furniture! See you in Saskatoon in 2 weeks!
So as some of you may know, I have been contemplating where I should go to school next year for a while now. I have thought that I had made up my mind numerous times before, and kept changing my mind. But now its getting close to time to really make a decision. So after careful deliberation and lots of prayer I have come to a conclusion and this time it will not change..I will be attending
Fresno Pacific University in the fall of 2006. I am really excited about going there, it just seems to be the right place for me. I mean it doesnt hurt that my best friend Josh goes there, but I have spent a relatively large amount of time there this past year so I have a good sense of what going to school there may be like. And I like what I see.
As you already know,
we are moving. Due to the narrow timeline that we have to deal with, and to work around Luke returning from China, etc. we are moving this weekend. Easter weekend is not the ideal time to move, but we really have no other choice. So, on Saturday and Sunday we will be regularly making the 2.5 mile trip between our current house and the new one.
NOTE: If you want to get ahold of us this weekend, you may have trouble getting reaching us by e-mail or at our home phone number. (If you really need to contact us please use this cell phone number: 559.816.5798).
I've never hosted a bridal shower and not been able to be there before this past Saturday, but that's what we did. With the help of my sister-in-law Virginia and my brothers Doug & Ken we pulled it off. Oh yes, did I mention the bride wasn't there in person either? We had two laptops at the shower with 2 webcams (or more) and Lori and I hooked up via the internet. We could both see and hear what was going on and they could see and hear us. In fact, after it was all over, people could sit at the computers and chat with both of us. It was wonderful! And, if technology was perfect, I would have never had to reconnect 6 times. But it was great to be able to do this for my sister. She deserved it!
Luke's first update from China:
Well, I am finally in China. After 16 hours in 3 different planes, and being awake for more than 25 hours, I arrived in Beijing. Today I spent the entire day walking around central Beijing. I went to Tiananmen square, the Forbidden City, The Chinese Capital Building, and Chairman Mao's body on display, as well as some alleyway markets. It was very interesting.
I am leaving Beijing tonight for Xi'an. It is an overnight train to get there.
Stay tuned for more updates!
Well, I don't really have any new news about my upcoming trip to China. But I will tell you about my day yesterday.
I woke up at 5:45am, and left home for Fresno at about 6:15am. At 7:15am I started volunteering at the Mitts 4 Kids softball tournament. Which basically means I played softball to raise money for less fortunate kids. That was fun, and I finished with that at about 1:30pm.
After the softball tournament me and two of my friends went over to Big Hat Days in Clovis. It is basically a weekend every spring that a lot of craft vendors, food vendors, and entertainers set up on the streets of Old Town Clovis. It is pretty fun.
After we went there, we went over to Clovis West High School were Andrew was performing in Winter Percussion SJVCGPR Championships. His school won FIRST PLACE! It was a very good show.
After the winter percussion show, I drove back down to Hanford for dinner. It was quite a busy day.
Here is a picture of Andrew performing.
As usual I was fooled today - not once, but twice. Andrew came down after his shower this morning with his eye covered with one hand - he said his eye was red and there was pus coming out of it. I told him to let me see, he said "April Fools". Later when Jonathan went outside to turn off the water for me, he came back in and said, mom, the back driver's side tire is flat - I ran out to see it and he says "April Fools". Okay, I must be too trusting!
