It's hard to believe it's already been a week since the movers began to load our things. You may or may not have heard the story, but they didn't send a big enough truck, so they had to send another truck the next day (Wed) to finish loading. We had planned to have that whole day to clean the house and run the last minute errands before having dinner with our boys and heading on up to Yakima. Well, as usual, the best laid plans....It was almost 7pm on Wednesday when the movers left and we still had to finish the cleaning. We tried to do what we could throughout the day, but you can't get to everything while people are walking all over the place. So about 8:30pm we left for Fresno to have dinner with Luke and Andrew and to visit Jonathan at work. It was midnight when we got back to Hanford so we got a motel room and slept for a few hours before getting up to go finish the cleaning. We had arranged for the property manager to come over at 7:45am to check the place so we had to get busy. I vacuumed and Lloyd shampooed the carpets. Thankfully the mainfloor is hardwood and linoleum with only the hallway being carpeted, otherwise it would have taken much longer. Rachel arrived just after 8:00am and I was putting the finishing touches in the master bathroom. We were done! We packed the last of our things into the car and went back to our hotel to shower and get ready to leave. We had breakfast/lunch with Andrew about 11:30am, said our last goodbye and headed out on the road. We had originally planned to visit some friends at 2pm in Klamuth Falls, OR, but since we left so late, we had a late lunch with them around 9pm! Then we had to decide if we would keep going or not as we were supposed to meet our new landlords with the keys at 8am. Lloyd said he felt good enough to drive, so we continued on, arriving in Yakima at 5:30 am. We grabbed a room and slept till about 9:30 and then went for breakfast - turns out we weren't going to get into the house until about 6pm that day. So we visited Lloyd's new office to get the phones installed and drove around our new city. Wow, what a week! Now we're still waiting for our furniture and things to arrive - so it's camping in the house! Lloyd left for Colorado yesterday morning and will be home late Thursday. Isn't life exciting.
For those who have been following the "Yoshi" Saga we found a home in Hanford for him with a family we were acquainted with. He was not too happy at first but we've heard he has settled in just fine.
